High quality photography gear
The first thing that wedding photographers make when they are trying to make it on their own and they are still starting out with their career is to invest in high quality photography gear. After all, when you come to think about it, your photography gear is the very first line of defense that you need in order for you to be able to really pull off the tasks that you need to pull off on the wedding photography side of things. What a lot of people get wrong during the first time though is because of the issue of money, which is what a lot of new wedding photographers are struggling with, is the aspect of trying to settle with cheap photography accessories because they think that for as long as they can get away with it, they should be at a pretty good place.
Don’t be attracted to the concept of a cheap photography gear especially when it comes to something important like getting a tripod, though. Getting a cheap and flimsy tripod is something that will not work out well for you and for the camera that you are trying to mount on it during the wedding photo shoot. The tripod can topple over along with the rest of your gear on it if you go for something that is sub standard in materials and in quality and that is not something that you should be going for. Save up enough money for you to get one chance to buy a high quality tripod and that should be it. Getting a good tripod will ensure that you don’t have to buy any more all throughout your career as a wedding photographer.
Leaving tripods behind
Another tripod mistake that wedding photographers usually make is that they leave their tripods behind at home thinking that they won’t really need it in the weddings that they do book. What you need to keep in mind is the fact that you will always be able to benefit from the use of a tripod no matter what the situation may turn out to be so bring it along with you anyway even during the times when you are being lazy and when you don’t really feel like it. If having to carry the tripod around with you all of the time is something that can cause a bit of an issue for you, then you should at least opt to invest in a tripod that is build for easy transport. Go for something that you can easily bring along with you all of the time. This is something that might cause you a bit of a hassle because of the added cost that it comes along with when it all comes down to it but what you can be quite rest assured of is that it will be worth every extra amount of money that you put into it.
Extending the legs
Make it a point to always extend the legs of the tripod all the way out of you have a need for added elevation. Try to not touch the center column of the tripod because it can be one of the most sensitive parts of the tripod.
